1. Resurrect Closed Browser Tabs with Ctrl+Shift+T
Ever accidentally closed an important browser tab? No need to panic! Simply press Ctrl+Shift+T (or Command+Shift+T on Mac) to bring back the most recently closed tab. You can even press this combination multiple times to restore a whole browsing session's worth of tabs in the order they were closed.
2. Select Text Like a Pro
Need to select a specific word or paragraph quickly? Instead of dragging your mouse across text:
Double-click on a word to select it entirely
Triple-click anywhere in a paragraph to select the whole paragraph
Ctrl+A To Select all of the text on a single page
Ctrl+click (or Command+click on Mac) on multiple separate elements to select them simultaneously, for instance, files in a folder.
3. Windows Snap Assist Secret
Windows users can quickly organize their workspace by using Windows Key + Arrow Keys. Press Win+Left Arrow or Win+Right Arrow to snap the current window to that half of the screen. Use Win+Up Arrow to maximize or Win+Down Arrow to minimize. For even more control, try Win+Shift+Left/Right Arrow to move windows between multiple monitors.
4. Search Any Website Directly from Your Address Bar
Most browsers support site-specific searches without visiting the site first. Type the website domain, press the space bar, then enter your search term. For example:
Type "youtube.com" in your address bar
Press space (instead of Enter)
Type your search term
Press Enter
Your browser will take you directly to the search results on that website!
5. Create Screenshots with Windows Snipping Tool
Forget the limited PrintScreen button! Press Windows Key + Shift + S to open the Windows Snipping Tool. This lets you select exactly what you want to capture—whether it's a rectangular region, freeform selection, specific window, or full screen. The screenshot is automatically copied to your clipboard and a notification appears allowing you to edit, save, or share it immediately.
